Specialized in the handling of metal and steel products, Sosersid fits naturally the industrial landscape of Fos-sur-Mer. Sosersid becomes a key player, by specializing in the handling of conventional products, heavy loads, and of course steel which still is its main field of expertise. Thus, the company presents the following particularity: it handles 12.5 Mt per year not only in bulk cargo but also heavy load parcels and steel products.

River and canal transport ensures that Fos-sur-Mer is connected to the economic centres of the Rhône/Saone river axis.

Locations

• Steel quay : Lenght : 410 m, maximum draught : 11 m, capacity : vessels, lighters or barges. At the steel quay, Sosersid is responsible for the handling and loading operations of the entire volume of sea freight exported by ArcelorMittal Fos. This represents some 220,000 tons per month of a wide range of steel products including slabs, sheet, coils and packs. His capacity to adapt has meant that for the last five years the company has opened this quay to other traffic. Since 2003, Sosersid also handles loading and unloading of a multitude of other cargoes for other clients.
• Ore quay :  length: 640 m, maximum draught : 19.50 m, capacity for two 230 000 tons ships. At this quay, Sosersid is responsible for the discharge of ArcelorMittal’s entire mineral requirements for the manufacture of steel. This represents a volume of over 11 millions tons per year
